Computer Access

To supplement a school's own computer resources, mobile digital arts maintains new computers and software to support its programs. Our goal is to ensure that a student's experience with computers and software is positive. To that end, we use computers with the necessary processing power and software that is sophisticated, yet easy to learn and use.

Computers

mobile digital arts uses new, fully loaded laptops capable of running all current multimedia software including Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Macromedia Flash, Macromedia Dreamweaver, and the Microsoft Office applications. All of our computers feature processing speeds in excess of 2.8 GHz using Intel Pentium IV chips. Computers are networked so that participants can share work and communicate with one another.

In addition, mobile digital arts provides digital video and still cameras, scanners, printers and audio capture and editing hardware and software.

Software

mobile digital arts uses “prosumer” software. This simply means that anyone can learn to use it to achieve professional-grade results. The ramp-up time varies depending on the individual, but in general, most participants are making websites, movies, or desktop publishing within several hours of first encountering these applications. From there, an individual's experience and working knowledge grows exponentially.

mobile digital arts provides software as needed, but our basic suite of programs include:

Adobe Premiere.  Adobe Premiere is a nonlinear video editing application that enables you to easily produce digital movies. Easy to learn and easy to use, Premiere handles video, audio, still images and other computer-generated media in a graphical, drag-and-drop interface.

Macromedia Dreamweaver.  Dreamweaver is a web-authoring application used widely by consumers and professionals alike. Participants are not required to know HTML, JavaScript, or other web authoring software languages to make high-quality websites. However, for students who are interested in exploring the more sophisticated aspects of web-design, Dreamweaver's authoring environment is ideal.

Adobe Photoshop. Photoshop is an industry standard for graphic design, as well as a widely-used application in homes. Photoshop is used by itself for certain projects and in conjunction with Dreamweaver and Premiere for others.

Microsoft Office. mobile digital arts uses Microsoft Word for desktop publishing and PowerPoint to create presentations. These are the leading applications in each of their respective categories.
